SHUTTING DOWN BROADWAY

By Matt Scanlon
Director of Conferences, NAPA

It’s never a small feat to put together an event that’s the size and scope of the NAPA 401(k) SUMMMIT’s After Dark, but this year, in Nashville, we’re pulling out all the stops.
On Monday night, April 16, we’ve bought out four honky-tonks – Tin Roof, The Valentine, Crazytown, and Whiskey Bent – with a combined total of eight stages between them, to host our first-ever After Dark music festival. Four venues, unlimited open bars, over a dozen bands, live karaoke… that sounds like plenty, right?
Well, we decided to up the ante even more! In cooperation with the city of Nashville, NAPA is shutting down a section of Broadway for a street party right outside our honky-tonks. We’re setting up a beer garden, food trucks, games, and more, all in the open air!
The logistics involved in making this happen are impressive. Our friends in Nashville tell us, in fact, that no one has ever put together an event quite like this one downtown. We’re working closely with city representatives from the mayor’s office, public works, and homeland security; with local businesses, off-duty police officers, and other destination management contractors to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch.
Make no mistake – it’s a really big lift, with a ton of moving parts, but we know it’s gonna be worth it to produce an event you’re never going to forget. Can’t wait to see you there!

SUMMIT UPDATE

By Nevin Adams
Chief Content Officer

Greetings, all!
Your NAPA 401(k) Summit steering committee has been hard at work refining and polishing the agenda, vetting potential key note speakers, and working on those very special “After Dark” events that have quickly become a signature part of the SUMMIT.
A couple of quick updates:
Though it’s early, registration is running ahead of last year. Not surprising, since we are expecting a big uptick in advisor attendance following last year’s record-breaking Summit. Early registration will close a little earlier this year – so, if you haven’t registered yet, I’d encourage you to do so ASAP.
Several of you have asked about hotels – those of you who attended the last SUMMIT in Nashville will recall that, while there are several accommodations within walking distance of the conference venue, some are closer than others. If you’re looking for the closest/primary, you’ll want the Omni Nashville. And you’ll want to make those reservations NOW.
What’s the plan for NAPA 401(k) SUMMIT After Dark? Well, nobody knows how to throw a party like NAPA. Many of you weren’t able to attend the inaugural version in Las Vegas, but suffice it to say (for now) that it will be spread across five of Nashville’s hottest honky-tonks.
Wondering about CE credit? There will be plenty – including Ethics credit (which should come in very handy for all you new CPFAs out there!)
The agenda? We’ll have more than two dozen workshops running the gamut of everything from the evolution of target-date funds, cyber-security strategies, integrating HSAs into your practice, new ways to connect with the C-Suite, committee design and management, and a series of sessions specifically focused on better business practices.

BATTLE OF THE AFTER DARK BANDS!

BATTLE OF THE AFTER DARK BANDS!

We’ve got a bunch of awesome bands playing on Monday night at the 2018 SUMMIT. They’re an incredible mix of the absolute best talent in Nashville! (And trust us, there’s so much talent in Nashville, putting together this list of the “best” bands to bring to you was not easy!)

But we’re totally stuck on Sunday night’s band. We’ve done a lot of hemming and hawing, but we just can’t decide between these two amazing bands.

So we decided: who better to help us than YOU, our NAPA Community? That’s right: we’re giving YOU the tiebreaking vote (which let’s face it, is the only vote that matters!)

So help us choose the band that will play on Sunday night at Wildhorse Saloon.

Check out the YouTube videos for each of the bands, then vote for your favorite. Keep checking back to watch live results!

This is gonna be FUN! We can’t wait to see who YOU choose!
